Biogas for sustainable livelihoods and green entrepreneurship
Within the framework of a project funded by the United Nations Development Programme - UNDP (Czech Challenge Fund) called "Biogas for sustainable livelihoods and green entrepreneurship" we are building a gas power plant in a poor village in Zambia, including associated production of meat, gas, organic fertilizers and vegetable briquettes for households. The whole project is designed to reduce deforestation by producing alternative sources of heat and energy and to provide employment for dozens of young men and women. Patrick F. Kapila manages the project and Lenka Švecová teaches the young people how to run their own business. The conditions are harsh (there really is a classroom in this photo), but we believe we are making a contribution to the planet and the people of Zambia.
